JB's state-of-the-art recording studio, Joe’s Garage, aptly named after rock legend Frank Zappa’s album, is an ode to all things musical.
To ensure consistent natural sound, the studio is triple volume, comprising a downstairs control room and ISO-booth with video monitor for recording to-picture synch, and an open recording space upstairs in an airy light-infused loft.
Aside from the microphone cupboard, JB’s pride and joy, the studio contains some of the world’s finest recording equipment and musical instruments, both acoustic and electronic. Some of JB’s most prized pieces include a 1965 Hammond C3 organ and Fender Rhodes Suitcase 73 piano, and it is no wonder Joe’s Garage has hosted so many international and South African recording artists.
From Watershed, Freshly Ground, HHP and Ladysmith Black Mambazo to The Corrs, Ringo, Loyiso, Danny K and PJ Powers, the walls of Joe’s Garage have seen it all.
